WE THREE

November 5 – 23, 2014

Each piece is a triptych, a set of three associated works based on an old song My Echo, My Shadow and Me. Like the third-face of Janus and the Buddhist way, the triptych represents my struggle to be in the present moment while trying not to dwell on the past or worry about the future.

The works are constructed on framed canvas that is used as a platform for the unique papers, pattered fabric and found wood cutouts. The images are stretched and sewn onto the canvas. The wood cutouts are held away from the surface to create shadow patterns within the work. The repeated patterning in the fabric reflects the sound waves of the echo and the central image hopefully drawing you into being in the present moment.
