Paul Wysmyk

Drawing and painting is at the heart of Paul’s creative art practice. He takes imagery from many sources including his sketchbooks and personal photos of places, people, objects, art reproductions, etc., and then combines or collages these source materials into an imagined space. For him it is not about a literal representation but more about aligning elements to tell a story and animate a pictorial space. From those visual materials an intuitive narrative emerges that is part personal history and part dialogue with art history, particularly the modern movement. His paintings are not about how he sees objectively but about how he thinks, it is his thinking process visualized.
