Trust can’t exist in a vacuum – it can only exist within a relationship. We have trust in people, things and ideas – whether they’re trustworthy or not.

This new work, which continues my use of nest, basket and temple forms, represents trust relationships in a variety of ways. As reliance, trust comes from a place of vulnerability, where the relationship includes a measure of risk – these elements that rely on one another for support. As security, trust represents protection; a promise that the metal structures gesture toward without actually providing. As assumption, trust means having expectations of the qualities of these materials; what they can hold, what they can support, what they can weather.

This series of human-scale sculptures are made of concrete, metal, resin, reed and cold cast bronze. They have been created to be suitable in either indoor or outdoor environments.
