Gloaming/Dawn Song

July 2 – 26, 2015

The title, Gloaming/Dawn Song refers broadly to the light and dark aspects of life and to lost objects or objects discarded when they are of no further use to us–a cycle of “life” and “death.” The objects that inspired this work will be shown with the work. They are found objects washed ashore at Hampton Beach or the nearby shores on the Bay of Fundy. They have a particular history–the vagary of the winds and the violence of the sea imprinted upon them. The sea offered them up to me, objects uniquely expressive of Nova Scotia, to be given a new life as I attuned to them, and, as a friend observed, “painted their thoughts.”
