Susan Warner Keene

Visible Hemispheres

February 1 – 25, 2018

In this exhibition of recent work, Susan Warner Keene uses the papermaking process to explore the borderland of materiality and visibility. A recurring circular image, described by light more than by line, is inspired by the meridian of contact between the visible and invisible hemispheres of the moon or, in other words, the illuminated and the perpetually shadowed. “Much of my work addresses the nature of the page as a created space, charged with potential. In the absence of language, other material realities assert themselves as the apparent emptiness of the ‘page’ invites engagement.”
